A history..Unplugged...

October 1996: 2 musicians, from 2 different musical worlds, find themselves without bands. Keying in on the “Unplugged” theme that was so popular at the time, they get the idea to take that format out to the bars of New York and New Jersey, performing acoustic versions of new and classic rock tunes.

April 1997: The first gig at The Idle Hour in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. What a show! No one noticed how nervous they were, or how they had to repeat songs in order to fill in the four hour set.

More than 700 songs later (and still growing), STONE MARTIN has been constantly perfecting their craft...and the people LOVE IT!!

From Led Zeppelin, to John Mayer, Dave Matthews to The Eagles, and everything in between, there’s something for everyone. A lot of the songs come from requests during the shows (and sometimes LEARNED during the shows). Some heard on the radio, in a Dunkin Donuts at 4am, it doesn’t matter. The songs are everywhere.

STONE MARTIN’s “Unplugged” format is exactly that. Two guitars, two voices, that’s it. The challenge lies in the arrangement. Knowing what to leave in and what to leave out, and performing it so it doesn’t lose anything. It’s quite a challenge for most musicians. A challenge that results in a non-stop production of sound. No one can slack off; there are too many holes to fill.

With 2-3 hour sets as their “norm”, it’s obvious that they love what they do. And from the look of the crowds, they do too!

So join STONE MARTIN on a Friday night, and you will see what so many have already seen, and you will not be disappointed. A more honest performance you will not find. What you will find are two musicians that love every note they play…
